With the world’s fifth largest area and population, Brazil fuels a huge, $1.3-trillion economy — the tenth largest on Earth. An amazing wealth of natural resources underlies this achievement. Brazil’s rivers, for example, provide enough hydroelectric power to satisfy 83 percent of its electricity needs. And some experts estimate that the country’s iron ore deposits could supply all the world’s steel mills for several hundred years.
